Uncyclopedia:StoreUnstoread (sky)

Hey all, this is me with my staff hat on... You might have seen Wikia's announcement about changes to Monaco skin. I just want to make sure you know that Uncyclopedia (and it's sister languages) won't be included in this. That's not to say that there won't be changes in the future, but Uncyclopedia has particular needs around parodying Wikipedia that need individual attention. So for the moment, these changes won't happen here.

But it's worth you reading what's going on, and the reasons that it's going on. For Wikia to succeed and grow, we need to try and get things right for both our sets of customers. That's you the users, and the advertisers that pay the bills. It's going to be a balance between the two... no doubt with the usual result of both sides being miffed. -- sannse@Wikia (talk) 15:55, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Advertisers suck and should die. Sannse, will you please tell them I said that and send them my otherwise warmest regards? --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 16:32, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
HA! Up yours Advertisers!!! -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb (talk to me)

Here's the screen shot

800px-New monaco mainpage

Well that looks like one hell of a lot of screen space given to the people who host the servers. So long as nothing like this ever happens here I'm sure there will be no problem here. Currently our contribution to Wikia's money making machine is limited to us advertising other wiki which do have adverts. If Wikia are thinking of doing something like the above here they should remember that although we are "The content-free encyclopedia that anyone can edit" we could also be "The content-free encyclopedia that anyone can host". We luv you sannse x. I'm sure that you will never let anything bad happen to us. Kiss Kiss Kiss --MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 18:10, Jun 7

Really now? I thought Wikia pretty much had a monopoly on the Wiki business, unless we want to hold quarterly donation drives like Wikipedia does... --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 18:31, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Article pages will have ads in the content area...Ads will be running in various sizes and placements on article pages. The ads will automatically be placed in text areas using the same logic that adding an image does – the text will wrap around the ads, and they won't disrupt templates or tables. Distracting movement in the ads will be kept to a minimum. (from How Wikia got its groove back), emphasis mine. Mine!

Ahhh! Lots of our pages have varying degrees of specific, planned formatting. Popping an ad where a space wasn't planned for one sounds like badness. As the picture above shows, it has the potential to kill or neuter us all. Possibly both. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 18:18, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
If the former occurs what better option can there be than death?--— Sir Sycamore (talk) 18:19, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Also we are a parody of wikipedia so shouldn't our formatting be as close to that as possible? --Sir DJ ~ Irreverent Icons-flag-au Noobaward Wotm Unbooks mousepad GUN 18:24, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
/me points to the bit where she says "Uncyclopedia has particular needs around parodying Wikipedia that need individual attention." -- sannse@Wikia (talk) 18:28, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
The bit where you said "So for the moment, these changes won't happen here." was a bit scary though. It did suggest that there was a possibility that something like this could happen in the future. MrN Icons-flag-gb HalIcon.png WhoreMrn.png Fork you! 18:32, Jun 7
They're working to get Wikipedia to include ads this way. --MegaPleb Dexter111344 Complain here 18:35, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

As a satire of Wikipedia it would be far funnier to have comedy spoof adverts, if that's the way that Wikipedia goes. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb (talk to me)

Get some sick!? Are you mad!? To utter such a desire, even in jest, is to wish a fate worse than death upon a fellow man. - Don Leddy the Crunch Fedora (Nyah, see, nyah!) 00:45, Jun 8

I'm quite happy I trailed off over at the old Muppet wiki. I would've been bitching about this for weeks and it would make no difference. Sigh what a waste. Please keep Uncyc from looking so shitty. --THINKER 04:35, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Wikia and its goddamn shitty advertising should go die. Spang talk 13:42, 08 Jun 2008
I'm not saying that. I'm saying that on wikis that draw sizable usership and have valid content shouldn't be as bogged down as wikis which do not have the same figures. It should be proportional. --THINKER 15:15, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Just imagine having a romantic dinner of chocolate Pop-Tarts in bed with Miss Piggy while she's kneading on your nutsack whilst you take pictures of the whole experience with the new Sony Cyber-shot camera with Smile Shutter technology? Can you say best goddamn experience in your pathetic life?... Okay, I'll shut up now. --MegaPleb Dexter111344 Complain here 02:49, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Something needs to be done about this

Okay. Wikia and it's obtrusive New Monaco sucks, we need to boycott Wikia and tell them that there's no way we're agreeing to that. We're not going to let them force it down our throats now are they, that's propaganda!? --Wikia is Propaganda 14:21, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

"Boycott Wikia". So we'll be shutting the site down then? Or maybe you have a room full of servers you'd like to donate free of charge for Uncyc to use? Also, you'll be needing your chequebook to buy the domain back from Wikia too while you're at it. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 14:51, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Carl runs servers for the other language uncyclopedias, doesn't he? ~ Tophatsig 11/06/2008 @ 15:00
Indeed. If wikia decides to add its in-content ads here, or switches monaco to be the default skin (horrible fixed width main page and all), or adds its crappy right-hand advertising bar in, then it's probably time to find somewhere else. Spang talk 15:26, 11 Jun 2008

I think he's referring to the "proper gander" pun. —rc (t) 21:04, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

I'll never tell. -- cryptic Ape (bless) (Riot Porn) 21:53, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, that completely flew over my head. Must be a British thing; in the US no one says proper without a trusty "-er" on the end. Mind you, where I am we don't overdue those "-er"s like, say, Wisconsin does, but still. - Don Leddy the Crunch Fedora (Nyah, see, nyah!) 21:58, Jun 11
Wisconsin is the worst! Wisconsin and its cheese should die! (Translation: still against the new, ugly skin. Still against ads inside the content. Also, I've got a rash on my bottom. I'd see a doctor to get rid of it, but scratching it feels so good). Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:23, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

You may want to research words before using them: Webster's defines "propaganda" as, "a congregation of the Roman curia having jurisdiction over missionary territories and related institutions". -- Brigadier General Sir Zombiebaron 03:58, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Don't go bringin' your high-falutin dictionary into this, big city boy. 'Round these parts, we don't reflect too kindly on such things, I reckon. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 04:33, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
