Template:Q and Template:QNL are now identical (actually, QNL redirects to Q). They now both automatically detect whether or not the article exists, and only link to existing articles. Thanks Algorithm! Icons-flag-au Sir Cs1987 UOTM. t. c 06:26, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Good stuff - I've been trying to catch it out on something for half-an-hour now and everything looks perfect. Great idea and brilliant work. I shall of course be back to complain bitterly when I find something slightly askew... :-) --Strange (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 08:27, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Yay Algo! ----OEJ 13:30, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Yay! Now we won't have useless linking to non-existent stuff. --General Insineratehymn 23:44, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Yay! For no reason other than to beome more slutty. --Crazyswordsman...With SAVINGS!!!! (T/C) 02:46, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I was thinking that the old QNLs with links in them would show stupid brackets around the links and it would take several years to clean up, but it seems I was wrong. Icons-flag-au Sir Cs1987 UOTM. t. c 03:10, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
I thought that too, but it's very clever - when it comes across an author John Q. Smith it presumably looks for a page called "John Q. Smith", doesn't find it, at which point it turns into a QNL instead and parses it correctly. So as long as nobody's making pages like B, it'll be fine. I heart this edit. --Strange (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 07:02, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
It's impossible to have a title with either square brackets or pipes in, so it's safe there.
It seems this is the pinnacle of the quote template. I doubt anyone will ever make it better or more useful. Shame the same thing can't be said about the quotes themselves. Spang talk 02:17, 16 May 2007
