I took the replace proposal from the bottom to the top to of the page, since it seems to be the current issue.--Rataube 19:32, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Kill Template:Recent, replace with featured unnews stories!!--Rataube 20:15, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

I like that idea. UnNews is starting to create some real good stuff. --Uncyclon - Do we still link to BENSON? 07:12, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
See the convo at Forum:Featured News Story? for a possibility. We could use DynamicPageList to generate a list of recent UnNews stories there. --Splaka 07:18, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
DynamicPageList yes yes yes--Da, Y?YY?YYY?:-:CUN3 NotM BLK |_LG8+::: 12:35, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

How about instead of having all the god damned purge messages just limit the amount of news that can be displayed to say 10 news items. --Uncyclon - Do we still link to BENSON? 05:48, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Template:Recent does that, but it depends a lot on the good-will of the people adding to it. It is easy enough to cheat by adding more items and using line breaks instead of pipe delimiters. So in short, not much use for Recentnews. --Splaka 06:00, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Well, it might help a little, don't you think? right now there are four or five people that purge, and the rest of them just don't even bother. I wouldn't really see any motive in "cheating" anyway... Tompkinssig Smallturtle t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 06:02, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
In one example, adding comments to news items sometimes gets out of hand:
  • Your mom sucks
    • No, yours does!
      • No, yours does!!
        • In related news, your mom does.
Rather than delimit that properly with |, someone might choose to <br /> it. You don't see the point in cheating, I don't see the point in trying to enforce an unenforcable limit. --Splaka 06:11, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I understand.. There was a red link in the Recent Articles template, so I took it out, but then the whole like collapsed on itself and i was forced to revert. Idk.. i think they're talking about scrapping the whole "In The News" section anyway... The problem with the "in the news" box is that it has become a dumping ground for some of the dreck that used to end up in DYK. When DYK was locked, the news headlines started containing more rubbish almost immediately. --Carlb 14:08, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Whoever had the idea to let anyone edit wikis was insane. -- Tinymooose.gif » Sir Savethemooses Grand Commanding Officer ... holla atcha boy» 14:56, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
