OK, I understand that we need to maintain a certain standard of quality here on uncyclopedia so it doesn't get flooded with stupid crap, but lately i've noticed that we have a problem with the extreme opposite: over-intelligent humor that the average guy like me doesn't even understand. Look, i'm not asking for farting retards getting kicked in the balls here, but could we dumb it down just a little? you know, stuff thats funny without a friggin degree. anybody else feel the same? --Storytime 00:11, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

i feel the same.i mean,i dont think humor should be a really serious thing.think about somebody sitting on a whoopie cushion.its funny but its pretty silly.but what do i know about humor ,im Jupiterfox--jupiterfox 00:11, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

Heh heh. Farting retards getting kicked in the balls sounds like a great article. Here's an article that I think is right up your alley. -OptyC Sucks! Icons-flag-us CUN00:14, 12 Mar
I think that is overshooting it a bit. This might be a bit more to his liking. --Mn-z 00:38, March 12, 2010 (UTC)
OK, while there are some articles that do require an IQ above 100, there are much more that are simply hilarious whether you have a doctorate or not. Go through UN:BEST, and you'll see what I mean. Necropaxx (T) {~} Friday, 00:45, Mar 12 2010

I think this guy has a legitimate point. Most of my works might be to your liking though, seeing as how I write from the POV of a complete moron on every subject. Such as this. I, for one, completely agree with Storytime

Uncyclopedia is still not worst enough! It needs to be a lot worster!

On a more serious note, Storytime is probably referring to our featured articles having become more intellectual, which might very well be true to a certain extent. Similarly, the quality of articles nominated for VFD has slightly gone up compared to, say, a year ago. So it seems the standard of quality has indeed risen, if only slightly. However, there's definitely no lack of dumb articles around here, as should be evident from clicking here a couple times. Personally, I don't care how "dumb" or "smart" humour is, it's about how funny it is. I was with him too, right up to the end. Communication isn't a science but an art; you've got to know your audience, and there's different ways to reach every audience. The best we can do is offer something for everyone, and I think we do. Am still interested to see what Storytime and Jupiterfox can do when they put their heads together. (If they have heads.) Spıke ¬ 22:52 16-Mar-10
Really? I care more about whether humour is "smart" or "dumb" than whether it's something trivial and pointless like "funny". If it's not "smart" humour, I can't pretend to understand it, then lord it over the "common man". The best jokes are the kind that both require explaining and, when explained (that, say, it's "...a delightfully insightful commentary on Richler's The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz...the book not the abysmally pedestrian film of the same name...from the point of view of Camus' Dr. Rieux from The Plague."), result, at best, in the "Ahhhh...yes. Funny." reaction. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 00:17, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

Blind dates

Reminds me of a date that went nowhere...I crack a joke, she says, "Oh, that's--humorous." Spıke ¬ 01:32 17-Mar-10

I once went on a date with a meteorologist. We spent the entire night talking about the weather. I finally got sick of it and thought I'd move the conversation onto something a little more meaningful, and asked him what the difference actually was between a meteor, asteroid and comet. We didn't have a second date for some reason.                               Puppy's talk page00:40, June 5, 2009 Wednesday, 01:42, Mar 17 2010 UTC

I once went on this date, and the lady offered to have sex with me, and I was all, "No thanks, I just want a woman on my arm so the other people here don't think I'm a fag." I know what you mean, Storytime. Sometimes there are FA's that I can't get without reading through 4 or more Wikipedia articles, and even when I finally understood the concept I didn't find them funny. But articles like these are not the majority anyway, and there are plenty of good FA's out there that reasonable people can understand. ~Scriptsiggy.JPGTelephonesig Star Starsig Kidneysig 04:21, Mar 20, 2010
To be serious for a split second here, I'd just like to say that I agree with Hiatus about understanding what Storytime is saying. But most of our articles should be generally easy to read (except for those overtly British ones, of course). If that's not enough, though, then check out the top ten articles of '05 and '06, as they were written in a simpler era of Uncyc. —Paizuri MUN (Talk Contribs Poll!) 04:50, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
In fact, here is a relevant article from that time. Also, if you want different articles featured, Storytime, then vote at VFH. There's a reason we don't require you graduate 6th grade to vote on these articles, to judge whether their humor IS accessible. That's why I always used to upvote or downvote every article on VFH, before someone complained that I always downvoted his articles. On a related note, Mhaille later made me look at a Scorpions CD cover which is, in my view, crossing the line to child pornography. In summation, I hate Mhaille.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 14:18, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

Humor for the "common man", as you put it, is what network Sitcoms are for. Not satire wikis. The Man In Black. 05:19, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

With all due respect Colin, so are so wrong that if you were any wronger the mass of your wrongness confined to such a small space would be similar to the spontaneous existence of a white dwarf in your backyard. Although we should be aiming to provide quality humour, we don't want to alienate our audience as a result, and we should be getting broad market appeal without falling into lowest common denominator humour. In short, it has to be accessible, but cool. My problem is that as far as I can see the bulk of what is on here is accessible humour, and I'm waiting for examples of what is "common man" and what isn't in Storytimes perspective. User:PuppyOnTheRadio/sigheil Saturday, 05:33, Mar 20 2010 UTC
I'm not saying it's right, I'm just trolling. :P I resent using the term "common man" in any context. It generalizes people too much, and is usually just filler for someone to support their opinion. I have always felt Uncyclopedia humour is far too intelligent. It seriously needs to be dumbed down. It can then be called "Quality humour, LOL!!" For instance:

"Enzymes are needed to break down protein complexes, LOL your ballz!!" Now, actually, what else do you need for humour? Isn't this a perfect formula, cocks lololol? And also: it's been used on Uncyclopedia for years. What the fuck is wrong with everyone? YOU ALL SUCK LOL!'
