I love the UnNews, and GT is doing a great job doing the Chief Editor whatsit. My only slight question is with featuring UnNewses. We've probably been over this before, but we're often featuring out of date UnNews. Today we've got one for a competition that is a month old. Whilst the quality of the article means it deserves featuring, it really doesn't work as a front page thing now.

I would suggest not allowing UnNews based on recent events to be nominated. Maybe GT should be given a couple of wild-cards per month to feature ones that he feels are excellent quality, but would only work on that day. mAttlobster. (hello) 15:57, October 30, 2012 (UTC)

I had gone on the record here about not featuring UnNews articles but then for the last few months there has been a shortage of articles reaching a +10 vote. So needs must and I have began to vote for them as features. --LaurelsRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 18:07, October 30, 2012 (UTC)
Out of date, shmout of date! Is it funny? Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 21:33, October 30, 2012 (UTC)
I think it loses a lot from being out of date. Is still funny, just not as funny.mAttlobster. (hello) 21:43, October 30, 2012 (UTC)
The UnNews Chief rewards good writing on the UnNews Front Page. The multi-week latency to get on the website main page has always been a problem for UnNews, acute now as it is accounting for more of our contributions. One of my contributions, filed right after Benghazi, would have been funny in the first week. By the time it percolated through VFH, the political parties seized on it as a football and I wound up switching to Against as the article could not be viewed except as support for one of the candidates. I don't think that grabbing an UnNews from a year ago, solely based on quality of writing, in someone's opinion, is a good idea. It wouldn't be, how-you-say, news. Spıke ¬ 23:18 30-Oct-12
But it's not, how-you-say, news. It's UnNews. Duh. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 01:57, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, outside of the tag on the article for posterity, I feel that despite how good they were these last two UnNews front pagers were a waste of the feature space. I would actually have preferred to tag the articles as feature-worthy somehow and not put them up, that's how stale their subjects had become. UnNewses can be timeless, of course, and I love those for feature candidates. I have a couple in my list from years ago that could be featured today, if anyone nominated them and people thought they were as good as I do, and I would even shamelessly promote them here as examples of timeless articles, if I were so inclined to. But maybe we can make a smarter choice when a great but timely article shows up on VFH. Maybe there can be a smart guy sitting on the VFH throne who can see a trend and a pressing need and rush the article to its rightful place in time to maximize the enjoyment of it by the English-speakng world.... But more timeless articles would also be an excellent thing to promote. --Globaltourniquet GlobalTourniquetUnAstrologer, UnJournalist, shameless narcissistic America-hating liberal atheist award-winning featured writer 02:42, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

I didn't read anything other than the title of the forum, but I think we should definitely be allowed to nominate UnNews. You're free to vote against the article if you don't like it. Snowflake mini Mattsnow 02:57, October 31, 2012 (UTC)
UnNews should be able to be featured, but there should be less. If we feature three or four a week, we will become more of a news parody than a wikipedia parody.--ShabiDOO 02:46, November 2, 2012 (UTC)
