So, people have been asking for a feature queue for a while. I've implemented it now. I think it's should be even easier than the current system to use (though it may take some getting used to). It doesn't use any subpages for the features so it should be easy enough to keep track of what's what. The user-friendly form of the queue can be seen at Uncyclopedia:VFH/queue.

I've tried to make it as simple as possible, so it's basically a task of clicking links, saving pages, and occasional copy and pasting. This is now the VFH featuring procedure:

  1. If you haven't already, add .featurecode { display: inline !important } to your user CSS.
  2. When it's time to feature an article, click the green "feature" link, and then press save, comment optional.
  3. This will give you a link to add the article to the queue. Click it and follow the instructions in there. Save.
  4. Once saved, it'll display the {{FA}} code with correct date and revision tags; copy this and add it to the article. Save and featuring is done.
  5. Every few days, remove old sections from Template:Featuredarticle/queue. That's easy, the sections themselves tell you when to remove them.

Changing over at midnight, moving yesterday's article down, and updating the list of recently featured articles is all done automatically. All featured article images are automatically protected for their duration on the main page too. However the queue cannot go more than 3 days into the future. Well, it could, but doing it automatically, each extra day just about doubles the amount of code needed in some places. I was thinking we could keep one or two days ahead.

I'll probably end up doing all this anyway, but just, y'know, to let people know. Problems, questions and hate can be directed here. Spang talk 09:08, 01 Aug 2007

Spang, I hate you for doing this thing that needed to be done forever ago. Also, thank you. You're awesome. (The hate is mostly jealousy-based.)--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 20:07, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Brilliant. Add another feature that already feather-laden cap of yours Splangy. ;) --THINKER 04:35, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
