Just wanted to share this link with everyone, I believe this is the second article that this particular news outlet has posted relating to our fine website. article

And now that you've read it, do you think we should maybe... do something? Tompkinssig Smallturtle t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 21:04, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Scratch that, second article I alluded to was actually this, [1] - which may or may not be related... I'm don't know my UK geography very well. Tompkinssig Smallturtle t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 21:07, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't think they're related, those places are both very far away. At least the Scots have some humour about their article - the second story seems relatively favourable, the only bit they said they didn't like was how it got a bit to personal near the end, which should probably be fixed anyway. The Lake District article is average, not as bad as they're making out, but it's not exactly feature worthy stuff. Perhaps we could add a note at the top saying "outraged visitors are welcome to fix whatever they don't like, as long as it's funny" or something.

Also, we have a spokesperson? I think it's pretty funny that they apparently called on us to edit the articles or impose stricter regulations, and we don't even get to hear about it till the published article is picked up by google news alerts. Spang talk 09:28, 13 Jun 2007

Our spokesperson is apparently the person Wikia hired to speak for them, but the words were those of sannse (who was apparently unaware that they were going to be published). Anyway, this whole spokesperson thing has come up before and, according to sannse, Wikia would be perfectly happy letting us have our own spokesperson, but they would have to give their real name, phone number, etc. and be consistently available.
However, this whole spokesperson thing wasn't really what I was planning on talking about here, perhaps we should start a seperate topic to discuss the issue? Tompkinssig Smallturtle t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 21:35, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to congratulate Linda Lovelace on her appointment to official mouthpiece for Uncyclopedia. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb (talk to me)
You mean, that's an actual name?!~Jewriken.GIF 22:06, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, but I hope her appointment is more than just lip service. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb (talk to me)

If anybody cares about what the rest of the world thinks about Uncyc, we might give a thought to encouraging articles that do more than just slam towns, regions, and countries for the "fun" of slamming them. I've never found such articles interesting, and I imagine that a new reader stumbling upon one of them might well click off to The Onion and never come back. If anybody cares. ----OEJ 22:04, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Hmm

The Cumbria Outrage sounds to me like just a bunch of tech-illiterate uptight busybodies who can't take a joke. It seems a bit like how the residents of Sanford would react in such a situation if they were not the products of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's imaginations. Their reaction contrasts sharply with that of Dingwall and Tuscon, whose residents seem to have a bit more of a sense of humor about them. -- Tinymooose.gif » Sir Savethemooses Grand Commanding Officer ... holla atcha boy» 23:38, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

We already had plenty of these. --Crazyswordsman...With SAVINGS!!!! (T/C) 01:26, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Brilliance

Stupid councillors. They obviously thought we told the truth here at Wikipedia. -- Hindleyite Converse 16:34, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, now I know where not to go on my next trip to the Isles: Cumbria! All the Englishy-types I met last time were right good charming folks, straight up! I wouldn't want that illusion shattered by a bunch of uptights waving picket signs at the only computer in town protesting Uncyclopedia. --The Acceptable Thinking cap small Cainad Sacred Chao (Fnord) 19:12, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
