F8 is also known to raise/lower the landing gear in SimCopter, although I didn't know it for the longest time.
F8 is the sun up key on some laptop computers. Commonly used when you are done partying and just want the drunk guy on the couch to leave and puke somewhere else for a change. Unfortunately it was broken for many years on the keyboard of time -- this caused the dark ages.
