Bonnie Hunt was a wife and mother of three with a seemingly happy life, that was until she became an outspoken supporter of kitten huffing! After appearing on severla differnet television news how supportsing the activity, she realised that many poeple were beginning not to like her. Her only support came from her family, and her lesbian/nazi neighbours.
Due to Bonnie's growing unpopularity, she and her family had a bumpy ride as their cruised through their life.

- Paul trying to pretend that Bonnie isn't his wife so his workmates at Kmart don't rape him
- Mike's constant attempts to get Rachel to notice him, even though she is fully blind
- Pip's constant quest to grow breasts like her mother's
- Grandpa overcoming the loss of his mobility after he had botched surgery at the clinc run by Doctor Who
- Mary-anne constantly trying to rebuild sections of the house torn down by angry mobs
- Bonnie and Paul trying to conceive a baby, even though Paul lost his balls in a poker game some three years earlier
- Rachel getting her sight back after Doctor Who perfoms miracle surgery on her so that Grandpa won't sue him
- Rachel realising that she loves Mike and marrying him during a holiday at a log cabin.
- The family sitting around and having flashbacks about Christmas past
- The death of Lynette after she ate to much minge and expolded
- The realization by the entire cast that everybody has a general feeling of dislike towards Bonnie Hunt because they can't comprehend her kindness, because they can't comprehend what kindness is.

In 1999 the cast announced that show would not return for another season. In the series final, Rachel, at age 19 (Hilliary Duff was 27) gave birth to Mike baby, a girl named Zoe after the waitress at the restaurant where they conceived the baby. Bonnie and Paul decided to move to Florida, leaving Mike and Rachel alone in New York having to look after a new baby in a large, expensive appartment. Mary-anne was granted her freedom, but decied to stay with the family. The lesbains moved to Washington in an attmpet to seize power. During all the comotion, Grandpa, content at seeing everyone happy, slipped into a cardiac arrest and died. The show finished with The Hunt family sitting around a bon fire discussing tensions in the middle-eats, as they had done in the first episode.

The show spawned several spin-off series.
- "Livin' It Lesbo"- starring Rosie O'DOnnel as K.D. Lang as Mary and Butch, who are now running to be the first duo-lesbian senators.
- "Rachie Loves Mikey"- starring Tim Hatfield and Hilliary Duff as Mike and Rachel as the try to adjust to new parents in the big city. this series was more of a drama, and had more serious messages. (This show was axed after 2 seasons because it was a bit shit)
- "The Bonnie Hunt Show"- Yes, Bonnie Hunt actually got her own talk show thanks to this sitcom. It stars Hunt, her mother, some nerdy ten year old who can imitate a cow, The Wiggles, and her secret lover Phil Keoghan, host of "The Amazing Race".
