First invented by the magical Apple company, the Cast Spell key allows the user to cast basic (0th and 1st) level spells without preparation or components.

edit Job's Mud

During the late '80s, MUDs were extremely popular among the hordes of unwashed geeks. No exception to the rule, Steve Jobs also played several muds. Unfortunately, he was a poor player, and often was forced to replace his computer equipment, after it was destroyed in a fit of Ballmeresque-like rage when he failed to win his MUDs. This lead him into two paths - on one hand, his constant need for computer equipment drove a fledgling computer company. On the other, his anger at the commercial MUDs grew greater, and he created his own mud.

The Wormhole, as Jobs called his newly created MUD, was the most advanced MUD ever created. Using Virtual Reality devices like the iPod, Jobs managed to create an ultra-realistic alternative world. Unfortunately, as nobody else had the specialized equipment, Jobs was alone in his MUD. Leveraging the new-found wealth of his new computer-hardware company, Jobs redirected the company's efforts into producing compatible hardware for his VR-MUD.

edit The New Players

Within a year the Apple computer company had cornered the market in VR devices. People were joining the VR-MUD in vast hordes, and soon Jobs had a population of thousands to play against. However, with this new influx of players came some of the greats: Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer, MC Hammer, and Oscar Wilde, among others. But one stood out from the rest: Christina Aguilera. So crafty was Christina, that Jobs began to see his reign on the server slip away. Again using the engineers and hardware technicians at his disposal, Jobs set out to conquor the MUD once and for all.

edit The new Hardware

Three months later the new hardware was available for testing. Jobs eagerly plugged in his new-fangled device - it was a keyboard, unlike any other the world had ever seen. While upon first glance it looked normal, as one looked closer, several new keys could be seen. Labeled "electrocute user", "spawn item" and "cast spell", these new keys allowed Jobs to dominate the MUD.

edit Endgame

With this new keyboard, Jobs ruled his VR-MUD with an iron fist. All the losers bowed before him, and he stood triumphant on the bodies of the fallen. But then tragedy struck - faced with falling stock prices from the ill-fated Lisa project, Jobs was forced to put his new device on the market. Within a period of two months more than 27% of users had one, including that computer-interfacing Christina Aguilera. Jobs was ruined, and left the world of MUDs forever more.

FIN.
