[edit] Conception
Conceived by a little-known Professor of Physics and amateur anthropologist, the word biosensor is an amalgamation of the Latin for the words "sensorum" (a sensor), and "money-laundering" (a practice currently not legal in EU countries). It involves the use of a biological sensing element coupled to electrical transduction and computational data analysis to some sort of readout, and necessitates the use of a product-driven marketplace. The relative strength of the biosensor format lies in its inherent generalised specificity, immunity to standardised measurement, and calibration intolerance. Successful examples of biosensors include the glucose biosensor, commonly known to many diabetics, and the badger, a specially designed weapon used to carry tuberculosis molecules to enemy cultures and civilisations.
Contrary to popular belief, the development of the Biosensor does not run concurrently with the chocolate digestive, rather it shares a common heritage with the electronic nose, a device operating in much the same manner as a shelf-ornament, or Raman microprobe.
[edit] Badger Liberation Front
Many people discredit the use of badgers as official carriers of disease, hoewever Scottish farmers have grouped together to form a Unified Front for the Fast Eradication of Disease, or UFFED, for short. Their popular slogan being "If you like badgers, get UFFED"
[edit] Badger Libation Front
Opposition to UFFED has grown in recent times ((c)Recent Times, Times publishing Group), with the formation of a Northamptonshire White Witch-based protection society, renowned for tapping the living bile-juices of badgers, cordially monikered the Badger Libation Front.
[edit] Badger Libation Rear
Like the popular Front, above, but the other way around. Not to be confused with the:
[edit] Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament
Also known as CND, the "Campaign", or just "Pain" as the military termed it in their kindlier moments, removed women from American airbases using a blunt instrument known as the "British Police". Popular airbases to be removed frm at the time included Greenham Common in Oxfordshire, and L'Isle du Sel, in the sub-tropical Pacific.
[edit] Current embodiments of the biosensor format
[edit] Stress
Biosensors have been produced which mimic the action of the stress receptor of the human immune system. This is to enable a direct measurement of the stress involved in certain situations, such as redundancy, or professorship. Useful as a fund-raising device, this recently attracted the attention of several passing drunks.
[edit] Strain
Useful as a tea-strength indicator, this biosensor removes the need for straining the tea.
[edit] Youngs Modulus
A useful device for administering birth control.
